I still can't believe Elliot is here. It's amazing to think that just a few days ago, this beautiful baby boy was bouncing around in my tummy and now... here he is! I'm going to post my birth story once I'm discharged from the hospital and have time to write it.
So for now, what can I tell you about my son? Well, his weight surprised us all- he's one of the biggest gastroschisis babies my doctors have ever seen! He has the softest, cutest cry I've ever heard- he sounds like a kitten. He knows my voice and will turn his head towards me when I talk to him. He has long fingers and he likes to stretch and flex his toes. The nurses have commented about how calm he is.
My heart feels like it's grown about twenty times in the last two days. It's amazing how much you can love someone you just met. I cried my eyes out yesterday when they made me leave him so that I could get some rest. If I could, I'd spend all of my time sitting next to his isolette, talking to him, holding his little hand, and just... staring at him.
He is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAww. I know exactly how you feel. Adrien was immediately taken to the nicu after he was born and they literally had to force me away so I can sleep. I stayed up for 36 hours straight because I was scared something would happen if I left. I am so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you mama! Elliot is such a sweetie. When my daughter was in the NICU, she was known as a troublemaker because she fussed and cried a lot. That riled up the other babies. But most of the nurses would put it a different way and told us she's "very spirited and knows what she wants". ;-)
ReplyDeleteHe looks so sweet. Congrats to you!
