Ouch!

We made another trip to the emergency room today.
After waking up from a nap, Elliot was happily playing in his pack and play and then suddenly started screaming bloody murder. I rushed to pick him up and his right arm was hanging completely limp and he cried even harder if I tried to touch or move it. After he cried for about an hour straight, my husband was finally able to come home from work so we could go to the hospital.
Turns out, while trying to pull himself up to stand, Elliot managed to hyperextend and dislocate his little elbow. It was a pretty quick {but PAINFUL!} fix- the doctor just had to reset it for him. He certainly didn't like it, though! As we were instructed, we gave him a dose of tylenol for the swelling and pain, and he's been sleeping ever since we got home, for over two hours now.
Poor little guy!

  6. oh no !! what a terrible thing to go through for him.. I can't imagine having him scream so much for so long--kids are amazing in how they manage to get themselves into such incidents eh? I'm so glad he's okay now!

  10. poor little guy! it's actually surprising how delicate little ones' joints really are - i used to lift up poppy by her hands/wrists (i've seen TONS of other people do the same!) and never though twice about it until my friend mentioned that she accidentally dislocated her daughter's elbow by doing that very thing! yikes! now i'm careful to make sure i don't pull on poppy's arms, and i make sure no one else does either. glad your sweet little guy is ok! he's such a doll (: xo!
