pictures?!

My new battery charger came. So, of course, as soon as the battery was charged, I snapped a few pictures of Elliot. He's changing so fast now and doing something new practically every minute, so I feel like I need to have my camera around my neck 24/7 so I don't miss anything!

Good morning! right after his morning nap. Moments before I snapped this picture, he was squealing, "Mamammamamamamaaaaaaaaaa!"

IMG_8150 copy Oh good. You're here.

We changed and went downstairs, and Elliot kept crawling over to the stairs and trying to climb up.

Uh oh, trying to climb the stairs...

IMG_8142 copy Cheeeeese!

IMG_8119 copy Back in the safety of the living room, crawling towards another forbidden area... the kitchen. I may have to gate off the whole house soon!

Do any of you have one of those bottomless play yard areas? I'm thinking of getting one for the living room. I've always thought they were a little tacky, but I'm running out of options. I always spread out a quilt and cover it with toys, but he refuses to stay there and instead goes off crawling towards more interesting dangerous things like cords, stairs, hot ovens, and toilets...

  4. We had a bottomless play yard thingy. I think I got it from amazon. But we never used it as a play yard, we used the pieces separately to block off "off-limits" parts of the house like the kitchen and stairs since the openings were too wide for a standard baby gate :)

  5. He is super cute! We don't have a play-yard, but sometimes I sure wish we did, ha ha! We don't have anything blocked off on our lower level and it's a constant "don't touch the dog water bowl", "don't pull out the mixing bowls" - although I will say, that with my first, she learned pretty quick where she wasn't supposed to be! Oh! And the name letters - did you make those?

  6. Ugghh....let the baby proofing begin! It kinda sucks, but leads to a worry-free existence! (At home, anyway!)

  7. Thanks for the compliments, guys! I really need to get to baby proofing. We're still in the process of hanging things, organizing, and decorating our house so baby proofing kind of got put on the back burner... but I'm going to buckle down and do it soon!
Kaylee- yes, I made the letters. I actually did a blog post about it :)

  9. I don't have a bottomless playard but I know exactly what you mean! Alyson ALWAYS goes for the cords. Every time I turn my head for a moment and look back she's at a cord. Cares the crap out of me!!

  12. we have a gate to the kitchen and we shut the bathroom door and have a knob thing on it so he can't turn the handle.. he can only access his room and the living room now. but i have a friend who has the "cage" as we call it and it's wonderful! she can do what she needs to do in the kitchen and clean while they are safely playiing with their toys ... i'd go for it or really get on your hands and knees and baby proof pronto!

  13. We've pretty much had to gate our house to keep Marshall confined to the living room and dining room. He never stops moving :)

  14. oh my gosh - Elliot is saying Mama already - awww - so precious!! I love it! And I do love those letters except I am sooo not talented enough to make those. You did a great job.
A friend loaned us her 'doggie' pen - it's like a bottomless play pen I guess you can say - it worked for like 4 minutes until julianna figured out she could lift it or move it. Experiment over. We gate up the hallway now and if we need to really confine her, we put her in her pack n play which we leave set up permanently in the dining room. It's not ideal but it works. We have a small house... so its ok.

  15. Wondering where you got the dreamcatcher? Seems hard to find them and Elliot's looks awesome.

  16. M- that's actually the same dreamcatcher I had when I was a kid. Aaron and I both had one over our beds as we grew up so we thought it was important for Elliot to have one, too. I passed mine down to him. They sell them at a lot of outdoorsy stores or small boutiques.
