We are still very seriously considering homeschooling our children.

I haven't exactly figured out how I plan to arrange it all. I know that I want to devote an entire room in our house to homeschooling. I'm envisioning a chalkboard wall, all of the map/letters/numbers/etc artwork I've accumilated on the walls, organized cubbies and bookshelves, fun bulletin boards, a cute table and chairs...
I haven't quite decided out how I plan to tackle the rest of the subjects. We will be using some workbooks, and I found a Catholic curriculum I'm interested in. I doubt we will be sticking to a strict curriculum, though... especially not for English/composition/reading. Those are my passions. I've found some fantastic reading lists organized by age/grade that I plan to use. We will definitely be taking field trips to nearby museums, factories, historical sites, etc as I'm a big believer in hands-on learning.
I will keep you all updated as I do more exploring and research... and am ALWAYS open to suggestions!

I've been meaning to comment on your previous post I homeschooling, but I haven't had a chance with the new baby and all. :-) I was homeschooled and I loved it - I felt I learned alot more and I was able to go at my own pace which was great! I plan on homeschooling my kiddos as well. I believe Math U See was actually the curriculum we used for algebra and geometry in high school, and I loved it - I loved the way they explained things in the videos. Good choice. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, I think home-schooling Mama's are truly amazing, and I wish you all the luck with your venture! Xxx
ReplyDeleteKeep the info coming! I love these ideas! :)
ReplyDeleteWe're planning on homeschooling as well and I need to start getting all my resources together so that I'm not rushed and can make sure I'm making the best choices. Please keep the homeschooling posts coming or email me if you find something interesting.
