Let's be honest, that one photo is pretty horrible. I'm embarrassed that it ended up on our Christmas cards last year. It was a spur of the moment idea, so our outfits were nothing special- for pete's sake, I'm wearing yoga pants.... and let's not even talk about my hair. Also, I took it with my tripod- do you have any idea how hard it is to run back and forth from the camera to the photo spot and manage to compose yourself (and two babies) in 20 seconds flat? Yeah. It wasn't easy. I know they make these nifty things called remotes that make working with a tripod a lot easier- but I wasn't about to buy one for my old Canon camera when I was planning on upgrading so soon. This was the best shot we got- and it's awful. Just awful.
So, my new mission in life is to schedule a family photo session- and soon. Hopefully, I'll report back within the next month or two with some great photos to share, okay? If not, feel free to harass me on here, twitter, facebook- wherever. ;)
Now, I haven't been failing totally at the whole capturing memories via photos with my kids, at least. Lately, I've been handing my camera over to Aaron and forcing bribing him to take some pictures of me with with the boys. Surprisingly, he got some really cute shots! Here are a few of my favorite recent pictures with the kids- all taken by my husband, who knows pretty much nothing about my camera. :)
How often do you guys get family photos taken? Do you ever use a tripod to take your own? Do you just ask your friends to do it, or do you make sure to get professional pictures taken regularly, too?
We have like, maybe, shoot, I don't even know if we have taken a single family photo since Ava was born. I guess I am going to have to make it a priority next week on her birthday. I would love love to get professional photos done, that would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your updated family pictures.
I'm a professional photographer and have yet to get a professional photo session of my family!! Sure, I have TONS of photos of our 7 month old son with my husband. I even have a few cute shots of me with him. I need to do this ASAP. My goal was to have two photo sessions of my fam this year but I'd be really happy with one!!
ReplyDeletei just have to hand the camera over to peppy and demand he take a picture too. :) but if we are going to a family function i know my mom will be taking hundreds of pictures, so i bring my laptop and just upload her memory card.
ReplyDeletei love the picture of you and your boys in the wooden chair.
and as for the red velvet pancakes, they were SO good. i used to get nutella crepes, but they took them off the menu for some reason.
I use my tripod and remote to take pics of me and the boys or grab a family member at family events to snap a pic or two of the 4 of us. I really want to take family pictures when we're on vacation next week, I'll just take my own or have my SIL give it a try. I haven't hired a pro for family pics...maybe when Ethan is a bit older!
ReplyDeleteWe used to get them taken at least once or twice a year, but they closed the photo studio (don't judge! They came out pretty good!) so I don't know where to. Self timer photos really are hard!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I don't have any family photos on our walls either. I'm the photographer in the house and I'm never in our pictures! I just made a recent photography goal for myself and posted about it on my blog. Check it out if you'd like another idea on how to get in pics with your little. Not too bad for doing this all by myself :)
