Contractions

Elliot hasn't been listening. I've been telling him he needs to stay in there for at least six more weeks, but it seems like I'm having an awful lot of contractions these days. Almost every time I change positions, my belly hardens up for at least thirty seconds. They're probably hopefully just Braxton Hicks but... with all this talk about preterm labor lately, it has me a little worried.
I told my OB about it last week, and he said to keep a close eye on them. If I have contractions ten minutes apart for an hour or more, I should call him and get my butt into L&D immediately.
He also decided that it was time to cut off all my exercise priviledges- I'm not even allowed to WALK anymore, other than the minimal walking required of day to day life (to the bathroom, fridge, etc).
But at least it's not bed rest. Yet. (We'll be talking about THAT at my maternal/fetal medicine appointment in GR next week)
Elliot: Calm down, little man! It's not time yet!

  1. Hi Jess! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love new followers!!!

I was just reading about you and Elliot (I loooove that name!).....and oh my goodness! First, I'd like to say thank you for the great sacrifices your family makes in service to our country. I know this is not only a sacrifice on your husband's part, but yours as well. I truly wish health and many blessings for you and your family! The prognosis sounds positive for Eliot and I will be thinking of you all!

I read that you are living in Northern MI. My husband and I were married near Traverse City. Northern MI is just beautiful!

  2. Those sound like Braxton Hicks to me. I had a TON of them from about 28 weeks on, and Sylvie stayed in there until 37 weeks. I wouldn't worry about it. If they're not painful or regular for an hour or more then they're nothing. Note: I had 2 hours of regular BH at 32 weeks and it turned out to be nothing. :)

  3. How scary Jess! I can't imagine what you're thinking but I really hope it is just BH and that Elliot listens up and stays put!!!

  5. Jess, take it easy girl! A few more weeks of taking it slow are a small price to pay for keeping him in there a bit longer. This is the home stretch!

  6. Since I'm not yet a mommy, I really have no advice for you as far as the contractions are concerned, but I just wanted to let you know that I'll be praying for you and Elliot. :-)
