He is starting off on 10cc's of my pumped breastmilk every three hours. Surprisingly, he had very little interest in the bottle and we practically had to force it into his mouth. Then, he was very overwhelmed and didn't understand the concept of coordinating sucking, swallowing, and breathing. He ended up spitting most of the milk back out. That's okay, though. I'm sure he'll get the hang of it eventually!
Falling asleep with the bottle in his mouth.
No more mom... no more!
Learning to eat is hard work!
Yay! I hope he gets that suck, swalloing and breathing thing down asap! But horray that you can even attempt it. I'm sure he will catch on so fast! He looks great! What a big boy!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I'm sure he'll get the hang of it in no time.

Yay! I'm sure it was a lot easier to have food through a tube. Babies are lazy. :D I'm excited to hear about this.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that Elliot is pooping and started eating today!! My dh asks every day how Elliot is, he'll be happy to hear this when he gets home. You and your dh and Elliot remain in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Elliot! Yay! Don't worry, you'll get the hang of drinking. I'm a lot older than you and I can still have trouble. It's like I have a hole in my lip. :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Hopefully he catches on pretty quickly. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Sweetest Life♥
How wonderful!. I am sure he will start showing more interest on the bottle soon. We had to try several different nipples with Tobias until we found the one that did the trick!.
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting, way to go Elliot! :)
ReplyDeleteYay Elliot! My Mabel was in the NICU at DeVos for 2 weeks after birth because of the suck/swallow/breathe sequence. Now she's 3 months and 12 1/2 pounds! He's going to do great. Just be patient as he learns!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to wish you congratulations on the birth of your beautiful son.
My brother was born with the same condition 29 years ago and has gone on to live a completely normal life with no complications.. well aside from the fact he has no belly button and he thinks thats cool.. this was before the could even detect these kind of things.
Just wishing you and your family all the best.
Yey!! I'm proud of you both! Keep up the good work pumping.
