Day Twenty-three.

Elliot started feeds today!
He is starting off on 10cc's of my pumped breastmilk every three hours. Surprisingly, he had very little interest in the bottle and we practically had to force it into his mouth. Then, he was very overwhelmed and didn't understand the concept of coordinating sucking, swallowing, and breathing. He ended up spitting most of the milk back out. That's okay, though. I'm sure he'll get the hang of it eventually!

  7. Good for you, Elliot! Yay! Don't worry, you'll get the hang of drinking. I'm a lot older than you and I can still have trouble. It's like I have a hole in my lip. :)

  9. How wonderful!. I am sure he will start showing more interest on the bottle soon. We had to try several different nipples with Tobias until we found the one that did the trick!.

  11. Yay Elliot! My Mabel was in the NICU at DeVos for 2 weeks after birth because of the suck/swallow/breathe sequence. Now she's 3 months and 12 1/2 pounds! He's going to do great. Just be patient as he learns!

  12. Hello,

Just wanted to wish you congratulations on the birth of your beautiful son.

My brother was born with the same condition 29 years ago and has gone on to live a completely normal life with no complications.. well aside from the fact he has no belly button and he thinks thats cool.. this was before the could even detect these kind of things.

Just wishing you and your family all the best.
