26 weeks

25 weeks

"The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take two to three days."

How far along? 26 weeks
Baby’s Size: About 14" long (the length of an english cucumber) and a pound and two-thirds.
Total Weight Gain: I haven't actually weighed myself this week, but I'm going to guess 19 pounds.
Maternity Clothes: Exclusively!
Gender: Boy! :)
Movement: Holy COW. Not only do I feel kicks and punches, but my whole belly contorts when he changes position. He has been a wild man in there lately... particularly at night.
Sleep: Better this week.
Symptoms: Swollen, painful lower back and ankles. Contractions every day.
Best Moments this week: Yesterday, when I was holding a brand new babe (one week old!) Elliot got jealous and started kicking her butt (literally). He was kicking hard enough for her to feel it and squirm. :)
Food Aversions: None really.
Food Cravings: COOKIES! Uh oh.
What I miss: Being able to shave my legs without contorting into a very comical (and uncomfortable) position.
What I am Looking forward to: Next week, along with my regular ultrasound, I'm also meeting the pediatric surgeon and the neonatal team.
Milestones: Hmmmmm. Getting closer to the third trimester!

  2. So cool!
What a naughty little Elliot kicking that older baby. You will have to teach him to pick on babies his own size ;)
