Day Ten: Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!
We received the best Christmas present ever today- we were finally able to hold Elliot! He slept through the whole thing, but there's no better feeling than holding your son in your arms for the first time. Especially after waiting ten days to do so!
When we got to the NICU and uncovered Elliot's isolette, he was wide awake and looking quite pleased with himself. It took me a minute to figure out what was different. But then it hit me- he managed to pull out his replogle tube {the one that goes in his mouth and down his throat to suck out his stomach}. The nurse was nice enough to leave it out for a few pictures before putting it back in.

  1. Eek! Baby in a stocking! He's so cute. And holding him is a perfect Christmas gift. He knew just what you wanted.

  4. I follow your blog, or have for the past couple of months. I am SO happy that he is doing so well. I am a labor and delivery nurse at a high risk hospital, and have seen some not so good cases of gastroschisis, so I was praying very hard for you... HOWEVER, he looks awesome! You have done an awesome job and he is so lucky and blessed to have such seemingly loving and devoted parents-- and you are very blessed to have him! I know you had a wonderful Christmas, what a better gift than your beautiful son and then to get to hold him! Take care of you and yours! Now..... when is he suppose to poop! We all know that is a huge milestone.
